Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham officially opens for business, as El-Rufai commissions renovated hotel in Abuja
Governor of Kaduna State and former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has commissioned the recently renovated Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham located at No.1 Uke Street, Off Ahmadu Bello Way, Area 11, Garki, Abuja, thereby making it officially open for business.
The grand opening ceremony held Sunday in Abuja had in attendance dignitaries like the Minister of the FCT; Muhammed Musa Bello, former military Head of State; Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar, Governor of Niger State; Abubakar Sani Bello, Emir of Minna; Dr Umar Faruq Bahago, Emir of Suleja; Alhaji Awwal Ibrahim, Chairman of Shelter Suites; Mallam Ibrahim Aliyu, Managing Director of Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham; Mallam Faruk Aliyu, among others.
While commissioning the hotel, El-Rufai said that it is the best of its kind, as the Chairman of the hotel, Mallam Ibrahim Aliyu, left no stone unturned in building the great edifice, even as he vowed to make sure it becomes the only hotel the Kaduna state government will lodge whenever the government has official business in Abuja.
He said: "By the year 2050, Nigeria will be the 3rd populous country in the world and about 80% of that population will be below the age of 35. We will be a young, active and restless nation and the only way we can convert that demographic explosion into an opportunity, rather than a disaster, is to continuously invest in job creation to support the future. Most importantly, to shelter our people and provide employment.
"This is what Shelter Suites is doing in its own way. The Chairman is doing so, not only in Abuja, but all over the world. I will personally do whatever it takes to assist him. Anytime Kaduna State delegation is coming to Abuja for any activity, there is no hotel they will stay but Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham.
Also speaking, Minister of the FCT, Muhammed Musa Bello, said that Hawthorn Hotels Suites by Wyndham is among the best hotels he has ever visited and implored the Chairman of the hotel to also try his hand in building hospitals for private investors to take over, even as revealed that the Chairman has a Midas touch in real estate investments.
"Abuja is reputed to be one of the fastest growing cities in the Africa, growing with the annual rate of 10%. Obviously, as the city expands and grows, it needs more bed spaces for hospitality and hotel accommodation. I thank the management of Shelter Suites and Hotels and their foreign partners for investing in the city, unlike other investors who didn't believe in the city. However, the Chairman should also turn his attention to building hospitals for interested investors to key in, as he has been doing with hotels " he said.
