As part of his efforts in cushioning the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and delivering dividends of democracy to his constituents, Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District, Senator Michael Ama Nnachi, has made provisions for bags of rice and other food items worth millions of naira for his constituents. In a statement made available to Paulokahblog, which was signed by his media aide, Mr Ukah David Eze, the food items will complement the five million naira, which the Senator donated to the Ebonyi State Government; in order to prevent the Coronavirus pandemic from spreading in the state.
According to Eze, the distribution of the food items, which is targeted at the aged and vulnerable, will commence on Friday 10th April 2020, as a special team has been mandated by the Senator to visit the 58 Wards that make up the district to carry-out the distribution.
The statement reads in part: "The rice and the food items will be distributed mainly to the aged men and women as well as widows to cushion the effect of the hardship caused by the Coronavirus disease outbreak.
"The Senator, who called on the people to adhere to all safety protocols outlined by relevant authorities, further advised his constituents to maintain safe acts of social distancing, regular hand-washing with soaps, use of sanitisers and avoid touching their faces and handshakes.
"While assuring his constituents of his avowed commitment to offering effective representation, he expressed confidence that the Almighty God will not allow the disease to rear its ugly head in Ebonyi State."
He added: "The efforts of the Senator are to complement that of the Ebonyi State government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Chief David Umahi, the local government chairmen, the state assembly members and other well meaning Ebonyians in this trying time.
"Recall also that Senator Ama Nnachi had joined his colleagues at the National Assembly to offer the Federal Government 50 per cent of their one month salaries to the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the country."
