N-Power: News of employment into FSC fake, should be disregarded- Ministry

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, has labelled as “fake news” trending stories on social media about the employment of N-Power beneficiaries into the Federal Civil Service (FCS) by President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a short statement signed by the Deputy Director Information, Rhoda Ishaku Iliya, and made available to Paulokahblog in Abuja Saturday, the Ministry said that any news about N-Power or its programmes will be communicated to the public through “appropriate channels”.

The statement reads: “The attention of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has been drawn to the fake news trending on social media that President Muhammadu Buhari will on June 12 broadcast to the nation the absorption of N-Power Volunteers Batch A, into the Federal Civil Service.

“The Ministry is hereby calling on the public to disregard the message and consider it as fake news. Any information on N-Power or the National Social Investment Programme will be issued through the appropriate Federal Government channels.”

Fayose provides food, lawyers for EFCC detainees, others

Former Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose, has provided food for over 150 detainees of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Fayose also secured lawyers for detainees in need of legal representation and also promised to assist those having challenges in meeting their bail conditions. This was made known in a post on Twitter via his official handle being managed by his new media aide, Lere Olayinka. The former Governor had earlier announced that his Twitter account will be handled by his new media aide, Lere Olayinka. Fayose was arraigned at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi on Monday, October 22, 2018. The former Ekiti state Governor pleaded not guilty to the charge of misappropriating N30.8 billion while in office.

House of Assembly member shot by unknown gunmen in Ekiti

A member of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr. Michael Adedeji, is now battling between life and death after being shot in the head by unknown gunmen. According to The Nation, Adedeji was waylaid in the early hours of Friday while traveling along Ikere-Akure Road by the gunmen who opened fire as he made an attempt to escape from the scene. The lawmaker who represents Ekiti Southwest Constituency 2 was rushed to the Accident and Emergency Unit of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) for intensive care. He was later referred to Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI) where is he is expected to undergo neurosurgery in a bid to save his life.
